An autonomous sail boat drone
About the Project
The magic boat is a project carried out by a team of engineers and researchers of the University of Florence aimed at developing fully self-governing sea drone and propelled only by renewable solar and wind energy. Fleets of these green sea drones can be used to collect valuable scientific data to investigate climatic changes, diffusion of pollutants and marine life conditions. First Unit will be tested by crossing Atlantic Ocean.

An autonomous sail boat drone able to cross the Atlantic Ocean, to monitor climate changes
The team has a history of tested prototypes and versions of the MagicBoat. La Barchetta is dedicated to progression and continual evolution of the MagicBoat to accomplish its goal. The scientific applications are vast.
MagicBoat is an attempt at taking boating autonomy to the next level. There are other projects attempting to do similar things, but MagicBoat hopes to be the first to cross the Atlantic autonomously. This campaign leans heavier on the charitable side of raising funds for the project while providing small yet creative perks. Having a logo on the side of a boat that may be the first to cross the Atlantic is decent reward for a relatively small investment. Please note you do not receive a MagicBoat for your investment.
