limitless communication built for adventure
About the Project
The Somewear Global Hotspot offers 100% global coverage by connecting your smartphone directly to satellite networks. As long as you have a clear view of the sky, you're covered. When paired to the hotspot, you can communicate and access relevant information through the Somewear App. We've optimized the app to not only ensure a great user experience but also decrease the cost of using satellite data.

Stay in touch.
The entirety of the campaign and product depends on this claim. The tech exists already, what Somewear is able to do is make connectivity compact and affordable.
Locational weather information is crucial for explorers in remote areas. Somewear taps into already established weather reports while also including urgent notifications based on proximity.
A big claim here for a compact device. In general, travelling to remote locations without typical connectivity places anyone in an elevated state of danger, naturally. Here, the Somewear Hotspot helps the user have extra elements of preventive safety, yet safety is always situational.
100% global coverage
With satellite tech already existing, the Somewear Hotspot is able to provide global coverage. Keep in mind, there are a wide variety of possibilities for interference to combat the claim of 100% global coverage.
Somewear Labs uses an app pre-loaded on a smartphone to allow comunciation via text. Friends and family must have access to your information and must also be connected to the Somewear software/app in order to communicate with a user.
The original focus of the Somewear Hotspot was the SOS function. Again, using already existing tech and networks, the Hotspot can readily function as an SOS device, with great ease of use.
Somewear Labs has designed a simple to use and highly needed device for the extreme adventurer. The basis for the design and tech exist, allowing for a functioning device as well as network. A simple SOS button is highly advantageous for dangerous situations. The app allows for a familiar interface for both sides of communication. Difficulties could arise with weather and other coverage complications, causing possible short term spotty connectivity. The big difficulty will be manufacturing in a timely and consistent manner, which could cause for delays. However, the solid Somewear Labs team addresses this openly and vows open communication with backers and supporters throughout the process.
