  • Claim:

    Truly Portable

  • Reality:

The Epic Event fits in the palm of the hand and is much shorter in length than an average smart phone and not much wider. With a smartly engineered low power consumption optic engine, the Epic Event utilizes a detachable battery to have a life of 2 hours which keeps it extremely portable.

  • Claim:

The Event offers a quick and simple connection process using HDMI and Wi-Fi screen mirroring.

  • Reality:

The process for connecting devices to the projector is straighforward and user friendly. In the prototype stage, we encountered a few minor difficulties with intuitive connectivity that can easily be resolved with a few added points of instruction. The airplay needed a little bit of work to get going and the HDMI required a pressing of the center button for several seconds to connect. Upon these elements being completed, the projector had no further issues and worked as claimed.

  • Claim:

    Usable in almost any condition

  • Reality:

The projector quality itself is as claimed. When we tested in a moderately lit room, the projector was clear and bright. Size of screen can jump up to 150 inches with a resolution of 1280 x 800, backed by 300 lumens. The magnetic mounting option paired with the tripod mount make it capable of additional uses, which is highly beneficial to the user.

  • Claim:

Using the Texas Instrunents DLP Power Chip and designed efficiently, the Epic Event is successful at showcasing its own quality of design, performance, and build. The prototype was packaged professionally and minimally with a pleasant unboxing experience.

Bottom Line

The Epic Event is an appropriately named high quality mini portable projector. Designed by a company that has designed HUDs for aviation and the US Military, the Epic Event showcases a seasoned team and their ability to intricately design a great gadget. True portability is maximized with long battery life, light weight at 9 oz, small scale at 4 inches, and great resolution. A minor need for prototype instructions is an easy fix that will be modified for the final product and does not take away from the score. In testing the audio with airplay video, the sound would sometimes have a slight delay that can also be potentially resolved prior to product final release. In all, the Epic Event is a product that can excitedly jump into a market that demands quality and portability for the younger generation who is always on the go.
