Using hundreds of songs, stories and lessons, Codi provides developmental support for your kids outside of the classroom

  • Reality:

The team at Pillar Learning has put in the due diligence to hire voice actors, curate and create stories, and secure song licensing. Upon delivery, Codi will be able to back up this claim with the touch of a button.

  • Claim:

Codi is an AI-enabled toy that provides children with customized interactive content & support outside of the classroom.

  • Reality:

Backed by IBM's Watson via cloud, Codi is meticulously designed to deliver content that has been carefully filtered. In combination with a continually growing database of stories and songs, Codi will learn and adapt to each child's unique preferences.

  • Claim:

With Codi, your child is always engaged and entertained while learning!

  • Reality:

Through testing, Codi has shown signs of engagement, intrigue, and interaction even before turned on. However, the lifespan of this engagement, through extensive testing, is yet to be seen and has a tough but justified battle against screens.

  • Claim:

    High-Quality Materials

  • Reality:

Crafted to be enjoyed and appreciated by kids, Codi's materials have been carefully thought through from body all the way to the outfits that Codi wears.

  • Claim:

    Curated, Personalized Content

  • Reality:

Curation is a crucial element to the uniqueness of Codi. Other smart speakers claiming to be child focused are missing the filter that protects young children from being at risk of hearing adult focused material. Codi is managed by a solid team at Pillar Learning who is passionate about protecting and educating children.

Bottom Line

Inspired by classics like Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood and Reading Rainbow, Codi is an easily lovable interactive toy created by a solid team at Pillar Learning. The product itself functions via the already existing platform of IBM's Watson in tandem with an original system designed to curate and create content for each child. The uniqueness of Codi is the attention and focus dedicated to kids 7 and under, while not incorporating any screen use for the children. Keep in mind, even though it is a worthy battle, non-screen audio based toys have a steep hill to climb to compete with actual screens. An enjoyable appearance attracts youth to play with Codi, even before turned on, which is a feat in itself. All steps to launch the product have been thought through by the team of founders which consists of 2 Stanford grads, a toy developer, and an educator.
